Checking in

Sometimes..time slips away. 
I took a new job in March, and had surgery on my foot before Memorial Day.  Girls Scouts, baseball and everything else that fills our time does not stop, but sometime there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done.

I still have been doing some crafty stuff here and there.  I finished a quilt top and another quilt came back from the hand quilter.  I have been working on art journaling and took a class from Joanne Sharpe. I just haven't put anything up on the blog. I haven't been able to get downstairs to my craft room for about 8 weeks, and I was able to spend a few hours down there yesterday and today.  I really still need to keep my foot elevated but it was so nice to get back to my quiet Sunday morning sewing time.    Yesterday I sewed all of Lexi's badges on her Brownie vest, and I got her new Junior vest started. 

I made these little log cabin blocks today from a Temecula monthly mailing.

Cut and Paste

I decided to work with paper, paint and glue this weekend.  

I moved my art supplies down to the basement in December, but I haven't really worked at my new setup.  My previous set up my supplies were on my right, now they are on the left, everything seems backwards and I fumbled around trying to find what I needed.    I will need to get used to that.  Another drawback is I don't have a water source close nearby,  so I need to take my stuff upstairs to clean up.

One advantage of being downstairs, is I can easily sew on my pages.  Here is a pocket I made from a

junk mail envelope.

I worked on decorating a cover for a new Junk Journal. I added more to it after I took this picture.

I did a quick online tutorial - Flower Girl using some new Jane Davenport supplies and Dylusions inks.

Alletaire - Completed top

This one is ready for quilting.  Difficult to tell from the picture but I used leftover black scraps to finish the border.  The only thing I bought for this was the gray constant, everything else is from my stash.  Glad to have this one done, it sat on my sewing table for way too long.

En Provence - Top Complete

I finished up the mystery quilt this weekend!
I added an extra row of blocks, and needed to make a few more green and yellow hour glass blocks, but otherwise I had enough extras of all of the other units to get this one together.

Cooper is studying for finals and decided my music and the humm of my sewing machine was a peaceful way to study and not be distracted.  We had discussions about the Napolean, the periodic table, and figuring taxable income.  Fine with me as I don't get to spend much time with him any more.   Of course, this area of my work room has eluded my organization effort, he doesn't seem to mind, other than the internet is too slow on my computer.

It was windy and cold (22 degrees) today.    No snow or rain, so we took my top outside and hung it on the fence.

En Provence - Week 6

I needed to get Brownie badges sewn on before I started working on the mystery quilt clues. 

 

 I was able to get Friday's clue done on Friday night.

When the reveal came out, I got started on the yellow set of hourglass blocks.  All of the parts are done, ready to start putting together blocks and sashing.  I know I am going to add an additional row to make the quilt longer. I think I have made enough extra parts for the extra blocks and sashing.

Here is my first block and sashing.  I hope I can get this put together on Monday before I go back to work on Tuesday.
